After M.U.D. we saw Spidey 3. Oh man. It was good, it really was but... it should have been so much more. (Here is when I begin my fangirl rant so you might want to ignore the next part.)
It just feels like Raimi gave in and just did what's expected in the last of a trilogy. More action sequences, more bad guys and more pointless comedy. I was so looking forward to Venom. I mean, forget about the classic Spidey villains he's the best. But he gets such little screen time for him to make his mark. And they didn't get into the psychology of the character which is the most interesting part. It was more here's Eddie, Eddie want Peter dead, Eddie becomes Venom, Venom is big and has fangs, Eddie dies. Raimi always said he didn't like Venom so I suppose you only take a character as ar as you see them.
Then there was the pointlessness of Gwen Stacy. I mean seriously why was she there? And why oh why did they have to give Flint Marko the lame I'm-only-bad-coz-I-have-a-sick-daughter back-story? And Emo Spider-Man!? What the hell was up with the emo hair (and the hair flick and random dancing and pretty much all of when Peter is under the influence of the symbiote)?
However I did like it. It's funny, I always try to hide my comic book geekiness but at the same time I totally get a kick out of it. I love that I can spot the traditional Stan Lee cameo before he starts talking just from the back of his head. I love knowing that J K Simmons IS J. Jonah Jameson. I love being a fangirl.
Okay that's enough now. Enjoy "study" leave everyone!
